Autocross

What is Autocross?

Autocross / AutoX / Solo are all different name for the same thing, running against the clock on a closed course defined with cones.

We run most of our events on the old military air base of Fort Devens in Ayer MA. The racing season starts late March and usually ends early October.

One car at a time with the fastest time winning. But beware, each cone hit brings a 2 second penalty!

Autocross is all about car control at the limit, with finesses on the controls and tight racing lines to come out at the top.

Depending on the organizing clubs, various categories are available depending on the kind of car, the tires (street or racing) and eventual modifications made to the car.

The typical cost is about $50 per driver and everything is run by volunteers, When you don't drive, you have to work and help out!

The most popular clubs in the region are:

    • SCCA: Biggest club, very large numbers of participants (up to 200) and classes, highly competitive, expect 4 to 6 runs maximum in a day

    • BSCC: The Bay State Corvette Club has 4 events per year, limited number of participants to guarantee a lot of seat time (10+ runs is typical), event open to all types of cars not just Corvettes!

    • NE-SVT: Non-profit club founded in 1998, limited number of participants to guarantee a lot of seat time (10+ runs is typical), very casual and fun. Requires membership (~$10 a year). Register early!

    • TC USA: Another club run by the same people, limited number of participants to guarantee a lot of seat time (10+ runs is typical), very casual and fun

All the 2015 season dates at Fort Devens can be found in this Google calendar
